All tour registration must be done online using the Salk Institute website. Please visit https://www.salk.edu/events/tour-information/ for tour availability and registration. Please note that the tour calendar only shows dates within a 3-month span.

If a public tour is full, please choose another tour date that has space available. Private tour requests may be submitted at least 7 working days prior to the prospective tour date. For more information about arranging a private tour please visit https://www.salk.edu/custom-architecture-tours/.
As we are a working Institute, it is strongly recommended that visitors book a tour in advance. Walk-in guests are permitted on campus Monday – Fridays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. All visitors must check-in with the security guard at the front gate upon arrival.
If you are unable to attend your tour or need to reschedule to another date where there is space available, please email email@example.com or (858) 453-4100 x1287. All tours must be cancelled or rescheduled at least 2 business days before the scheduled tour date for a full refund.
No, all architecture tours will happen rain or shine.
No. The Salk Institute campus is closed on weekends and holidays and is not accessible to the general public.
No. All Salk architecture tours are outdoors on our main travertine courtyard. Tour groups do not go inside the laboratories, upstairs/downstairs, or in any areas of the buildings that are not a part of the designated tour route.
Yes. Our tours can accommodate those who need ADA accessibility.
Yes. Donation envelopes are available at the front desk. We accept cash, credit cards or checks (made out to the Salk Institute) or click here to make an online donation.
Yes. Our Salk café is open from 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. We also have a coffee cart on campus open from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
We do not recommend young children or babies coming on the tour as they may distract the group or tour guide. The Salk architecture tour is geared toward architects and adults interested in architecture.
Yes, children must be registered online, however children 12 years of age and under are free.
No. We recommend leaving all strollers in the car as there are stairs on the tour route.

Large groups are not permitted on campus unless a custom tour has been booked with the tour program coordinator. To arrange a custom tour, please visit https://www.salk.edu/custom-architecture-tours/.
Recreational shoots are permitted and are considered to be people who use one hand-held camera without the use of any additional photo/video equipment. While taking photos, please respect other visitors and Salk staff. Any other type of photo or video shoot must be arranged with our Communications department (858) 453-4100 x1371.

The Salk gift shop at the front reception desk is open from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m to 3:00 p.m.
