Salk Institute for Biological Studies - Corporate Discovery Partners

Corporate Discovery Partners

Salk Corporate Discovery Partners is a premier philanthropic program for companies seeking to align their brand with world-class science. Designed to recognize and engage industry leaders, the program offers a tiered structure of annual support that fuels leading-edge biomedical research, drives STEM education pipeline programs, and accelerates real-world solutions to humanity’s most urgent challenges—from cancer and Alzheimer’s to drought and food insecurity. Corporate partners gain meaningful visibility, brand alignment, and access to curated experiences that highlight their commitment to discovery.

Salk research has always depended on both public funding and private philanthropy, and we are proud to be careful, transparent stewards of both. As representatives of your organizations, you play a unique role in shaping how corporate values translate into impact—both for your employees and for the broader community. Now more than ever, we need partners who believe in the life-changing force of foundational science. I would like to invite you to the table and discuss ways your organization can help, such as:

  • Sponsor Salk events such as Symphony at Salk, Joan Jacobs Science & Music Series, scientific symposia and conferences, and more.
  • Invest in research areas aligned with your company’s mission and values
  • Engage employees through workplace giving and matching gift programs
  • Build brand visibility through cause-related marketing and community recognition

Discovery Partners are more than donors; they are collaborators in shaping the future of human health and the planet.

Areas of Greatest Need
Unrestricted support is one of the most powerful ways to fuel discovery. These funds allow Salk leadership to respond swiftly to emerging challenges, invest in high-potential opportunities, and provide essential resources that sustain a competitive research environment.

Technology
Salk’s cutting-edge Scientific Core Facilities offer shared access to sophisticated instruments and expert staff in genomics, stem cells, imaging, and more. These resources ensure that every lab—no matter its discipline or size—can leverage worldclass tools. Additionally, Salk is investing heavily in biocomputation technologies, including AI and machine learning, to empower data-driven discovery and unlock new dimensions of analysis.

Research
Supporting specific areas of research helps attract and retain top talent, foster collaboration across disciplines, and accelerate innovations that shape the future of science and medicine. Members can direct to one of four critical areas of research:

  • Cancer biology and immunology
  • Healthy aging and metabolism
  • Neuroscience and Alzheimer’s disease
  • Plant science and crop resilience

STEM Programs
To further develop Salk science and the STEM enterprise, Salk is identifying mechanisms to support current and future STEM researchers from all populations at all stages of the research trajectory through hands-on research experiences, mentoring, outreach, and funding proposals.

Architecture
Designed by founder Jonas Salk and architectural icon Louis Kahn, the Salk Institute is a globally recognized masterpiece—a place where form inspires function. Gifts to this area preserve the Institute’s architectural legacy and support the enhancement of campus spaces to foster creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
