At the Salk Institute, we are fearless in our pursuit of answers to many
of the most challenging problems facing the world, ranging from aging,
cancer, climate change, brain disease and more. We believe—as our
founder Jonas Salk did—that hope lies in dreams, in imagination and in
the courage of those who dare to make dreams into reality.
The Salk Institute was born of a vision to create a place where the
world’s top scientists could boldly pursue scientific discoveries for the
benefit of humankind. Like founder Jonas Salk did when he created the
first safe and effective polio vaccine, our goal is nothing short of
transforming our world for the benefit of all.
Pursuing a solution to climate change or new ways to diagnose
and treat dementia requires a tenacious belief that a group
of brilliant scientists can indeed change the world. We are proud
that these scientists call the Salk Institute home.
Together we can find cures to the world’s deadly diseases, such as
cancer and Alzheimer’s, while we work to prevent the environmental
catastrophe caused by climate change. We believe deeply, just as
Jonas Salk did, that together we can prevail.
