San Diego Nathan Shock Center Symposium 2024

On Wednesday March 6, 2024, the San Diego Nathan Shock Center offered a symposium titled Tackling the Heterogeneity of Aging in hybrid format. This event featured presentations from speakers from around the country, including Dr. Vera Gorbunova of University of Rochester, Dr. Morgan Levine of Altos Labs, Dr. Peter Sudmant of University of California Berkeley, and Dr. Nicola Neretti of Brown University, as well as SD-NSC Pilot Grant Awardees.

The in-person meeting included additional mentoring and networking opportunities such as a pilot grant awardees lunch, pilot grant program session, mentorship meetings, project consultation with SD-NSC Research Cores, and social happy hour.

San Diego Nathan Shock Center Symposium 2023

On Wednesday March 22, the San Diego Nathan Shock Center offered a workshop in hybrid format featuring presentations by Dr. Michal Snyder of Stanford University, Dr. Rozalyn Anderson of the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Berenice Benayoun of the University of Southern California, Will Wang of the Sanford Burnham Prebys Institute, Dr. Rafael de Cabo of the NIH-National Institute on Aging, and SD-NSC Pilot Grant Awardees.

The in-person meeting also included additional mentoring and networking opportunities such as pilot grant consultation sessions, mentorship meetings, Core Facility tours, and a happy hour.

San Diego Nathan Shock Center Workshop 2022

On Friday March 25th of 2022, the San Diego Nathan Shock Center offered a workshop in a hybrid format featuring updates from the three scientific Cores: the Human Cell Models of Aging Core, the Heterogeneity of Aging Core, and the Integrative Models of Aging Core; a Keynote address titled “Building multidisciplinary research in understanding aging biology” by Dr. Meng Wang from Baylor College of Medicine, 2021 Pilot Grant Awardees presentations, and a Career Panel Session including professionals from academia and industry.

Additionally, the in-person version of the event focused on enriching the Pilot Grant and Mentorship program by offering the 2021 and 2022 awardees the opportunity of in-person mentorship meetings, Q&A sessions, and networking, to contribute to advance their pilot projects and careers.
