Registration Housing Information


August 1-4, 2017

Local Transportation:
Take a taxi, shuttle or other local transportation from the San Diego International Airport to the Salk Institute (10010 North Torrey Pines Road in La Jolla, CA  92037).  If traveling alone, it is less expensive to take a shuttle.  If traveling with two or more, it is less expensive to take a taxi.  You need to check in at the Salk Institute symposium registration, BEFORE checking in at UCSD housing.

UCSD Conference Services Check In:
After completion of symposium registration at the Salk Institute, you will be given directions to your accommodations across the street at the University of California, San Diego.  The nights covered by registration housing packages for this meeting are: August 1, 2, 3 and 4. Registration housing packages only cover accommodations for the registered participant.

If you are planning to arrive the day before the meeting starts, or wish to stay for a day after the meeting ends, please note that there is an additional $135/night charge for the night of either July 31 and/or August 5.  Please contact Joseph Fejeran at UCSD Conference Services at jfejeran@ucsd.edu or (858) 534-0235 to make arrangements.

General Housing Information:
The UCSD housing provided for meeting participants is located in the student apartments within walk distance from the Salk Institute.  Linens and towels are provided, but additional amenities such as shampoo, soap, hangers, shower caddies, alarm clocks, and desk lamps are not provided.  Beds are made upon arrival with sheets, a blanket and a pillow and refreshed weekly.  Includes one (1) set of towels that can be refreshed upon request during stay, clothing hangers, portable fans and toiletries.  Service includes daily cleaning of common areas and trash removal.  Each bedroom is a single. Each participant will receive their own room (could be a single bed, double bed or triple bed), within a suite apartments shared with several other people.  All suites apartments are male only or female only.

Internet access is included in your conference stay at UCSD. Each person will have an Ethernet jack in their room, and should bring an Ethernet cable to connect to the Internet. Wireless will be available in most of the housing areas, but is not the primary network.

Parking:
UCSD now requires the purchase of a parking pass in order to park on campus.  The cost of this permit is $8 a day.  You will have the ability to purchase the parking pass directly when you check in at UCSD Conference Services and get your keys for your housing arrangements.

Lockouts:
UCSD charges anywhere from $20-$350 if you are locked out and they need to re-issue keys and/or key cards.  Please be aware that this charge will the responsibility of the person staying in the room.
