We recharge for some of our services and consumables. Recharges are used for instrument maintenance and rates are calculated from the annual running costs (see table below):

Training: Training for self-operation is available for any analytical flow cytometer (if you have a one-off experiment, we may be able to run your samples with you). In general, the cell sorters are operated by FCCF staff, however for users who will be sorting regularly (it takes repetition and experience to become comfortable), training can be discussed. For enquiries, use the form in Infinity (located in the Request Services tab > Sample Submission Forms), and submit brief details of your experiment (e.g. cell type and fluorescent labeling) along with prior experience with flow cytometry in the text box.

Billing procedure: We calculate time used starting from the beginning of your reserved time, and ending when you run your last sample. e.g. if you sign up for 12:30-14:30, but finish at 14:00, you will be charged for 12:30-14:00. If you persistently use less than 20% of your signed-up time, we will charge for the entire sign-up.

Cancellation, No-Show and late arrival policies.

General: Charged time starts at the time you signed up. If you don’t show up, you will be charged for the entire time reserved. To give other users a chance to prepare their samples and make use of a cancelled booking, analyzer cancellations can be made no less than 4.00 hours in advance without penalty (or charge); otherwise the cancellation fee will be 50.00% of booked time.

Sorters: If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be charged for 50% of your booked reservation time (1h minimum). If you are a “no show” and never notify us that you are cancelling, then you will be charged for 100% of your booked reservation time.

Sorter late arrival policy: Your billable sort appointment starts from the time you are scheduled with FCCF. If you are more than 1 hour late without prior notice, we may cancel the sort altogether and you will be charged for the time.

LSR II late arrival policy: If you are more than 15 minutes late, another user may take your reservation.

Instrument left on overnight: 50% of charge for time left on.
