  • Salk is continually striving to promote diversity on our campus in recognition of the value in STEM of different human experiences and perspectives. If you wish to provide information about your identity so our organizing committee can determine whether our speaker series is having an impact in this area, please do so below. This information is entirely voluntary and if provided will be maintained anonymously, by speaker year.
  • *Please choose no more than 3 dates.
**If the checkbox next to a date is unavailable, please note this date is either pending booking by another speaker or has already been confirmed by another speaker.
  • Please note: Final Talk Title or Topic can be updated at a later date.
  • Salk is dedicated to providing an outstanding training environment to the next generation of biomedical researchers. This training extends beyond the instruction, knowledge and skills needed to pursue basic research, and includes the cultivation of intellectual and personal qualities that promote creativity and scientific excellence. With this in mind, the Salk Seminars Committee and Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion have partnered to create new opportunities for trainees to hear from speakers who identify as members of underrepresented populations in science about their personal journeys and/or from speakers who have advocated for diversity, equity and inclusion in various ways (e.g., as a speaker, affinity group member/leader/supporter, mentor/sponsor, policy maker/changer, faculty/trainee liaison, search committee member, etc.) and the impact of participation.

If you identify as a member of an underrepresented population in science* and/or have advocated for people, programs or policies related to diversity, equity and inclusion in science, please let us know if would you be interested in sharing your experiences in an informal setting over lunch with trainees** You will receive an additional honorarium for this discussion.

  • *This may include but is not intended to be limited to identifying as, and/or advocating for, a member of an underrepresented population in the biomedical sciences as identified by the NIH or in health-related sciences as reported by the NSF.

** Salk will use this information for the purposes of determining whether to reserve time for this more informal session and to advertise it to potential attendees. We are pleased to offer an additional, modest honorarium for this session.
