20th Annual Symphony at Salk features jazz sensations Chris Botti and John Pizzarelli

LA JOLLA–The Salk Institute will celebrate 20 years of 索尔克音乐会 on Saturday, August 29 with a magical evening of jazz. Trumpeter Chris Botti and jazz guitarist John Pizzarelli will join the acclaimed San Diego Symphony, led by distinguished conductor Maestro Thomas Wilkins.

The performances at Symphony at Salk never disappoint, and this year should be no exception. The expressive sound of trumpeter Chris Botti is sure to impress. Since the release of his critically acclaimed CD, When I Fall In Love, Botti has become the highest-selling American instrumental artist. His latest album, Impressions, won the Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album in 2013.

Jazz guitarist and vocalist John Pizzarelli has been hailed by The Boston Globe for “reinvigorating the Great American Songbook and re-popularizing jazz.” Described as “madly creative” by the Los Angeles Times, Pizzarelli draws his inspiration from such performers as Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra.

Tickets, which include a champagne reception, gourmet dinner and the concert, cost $300 each and are on sale now. The evening begins with a champagne reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by supper at 6:30 p.m. and the concert at 8:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.salk.edu/symphony.
