Across the political spectrum, there is strong bipartisan support for life sciences research. Every family, in every community, has been touched by cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, or chronic illness. Scientific research is critical to improving the health of the American people, driving our nation’s innovation economy, and maintaining global competitiveness. Yet important questions remain unresolved: Who will shoulder the cost of sustaining breakthrough research? How will limited federal dollars be allocated?
