The Salk Cancer Summit on September 1, 2021 was focused on Cancer Metabolism: Cutting cancer’s fuel lines. Scientists shared their research on the groundbreaking relationship between the immune system and cancer; how diet, metabolism, exercise and other lifestyle factors converge to alter cancer risk; and the latest understanding of cancer prevention.
On May 28, 2019, Salk supporters came to the Institute for an exciting update on the 攻克癌症倡议, which was launched in April 2017. Keynote speaker Lisa Niemi Swayze, widow of actor Patrick Swayze, spoke movingly about her husband’s battle with pancreatic cancer. CCI Advisory Committee Chair Tim Schoen moderated a panel that included Salk Cancer Center faculty 罗纳德·埃文斯, Tony Hunter 和 Dannielle Engle. Salk President 鲁斯蒂·盖奇 and Cancer Center Director 鲁本-肖 emceed the evening.
