ASpanish Gathering
for International Council
More than31membersof Salk’s
Internationa
l Council gathered inBarcelona this
spring for three days of scientific presentations
and activities designed to update them on the
most recent developments at the Institute.
Some of Salk’s leading scientists provided
overviews of their promising discoveries in stem
cell research and advancements in studies related
tometabolism, cancer and therapeutics for
chronic disease.
Highlights from some of the group’s activities
included a tour of the charmingmedieval town of
Sitges, aGaudi architectural tour and an elegant
dinner and flamenco show hosted by the Spanish
government.
The Salk’s International Council ismade up of
business executiveswho serve as ambassadors of
the Institute in an effort to help raise the Institute’s
profile around theworld as they share Salk’s latest
discoverieswith their circle of influence.
