Application Deadline<\/strong>
\nAll application materials must be submitted by March 1, 2026<\/strong>. This includes the completed application via UKG, resume, unofficial transcript, recommendation letter, and answering the short questions.<\/p>\n

Letters of Recommendation<\/strong>
\nRequired at the point of submitting your formal application for the internship. Before applying, we recommend having a conversation with your potential recommender about the program and your interest in it. Once a letter of recommendation is obtained, you will need to upload the letter of recommendation upon submitting your formal application. Recommenders can include teachers, coaches, counselors, supervisors, mentors<\/em><\/strong>, or anyone in a similar role who knows you well.<\/p>\n

Age Eligibility<\/strong>
\nTo participate in the program, you must be at least 16 years old on or before June 16, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nInternships will take place at the Salk Institute\u2019s main campus:

Missing a Course? Can I Still Apply?<\/strong>
\nIf you haven\u2019t taken biology or chemistry yet, or are only missing one of those courses, we still encourage you to apply. We\u2019re looking for students who are curious, motivated, and passionate about science. A strong resume, thoughtful short answers, and compelling letters of recommendation can go a long way in demonstrating your potential.<\/p>\n

Prior Experience Not Required<\/strong>
\nNo lab or work experience? No problem. This internship is designed to help you build both technical and soft skills while exploring the world of research. If you\u2019re excited to learn and grow, we\u2019d love to see your application!<\/p>\n

Weekly Internship Hours<\/strong>
\nInterns must be able to commit to 30\u201340 hours per week<\/strong> from June 15 to August 7, 2026. Most labs operate between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.<\/strong>, but exact schedules may vary depending on the lab placement. Be sure to ask about the lab\u2019s schedule during the interview\u2014it\u2019s a great way to show curiosity and preparedness!<\/p>\n
