How do I get to the Salk Institute, and where do I park?

The Salk Institute is located at: 10010 N Torrey Pines Rd La Jolla, CA 92037 The link below provides directions and a map of the Salk Institute. Free parking is available in the Salk Institute West Lot. There is additional free parking on the street along Torrey Pines Scenic Drive, Salk Institute Road and in the Torrey Pines Gliderport parking lot. There is paid parking available for an hourly rate at the Sanford Consortium immediately across from the east end of the Salk Institute. The rate is $1.00 an hour.

Can I still attend if I do not pre-register?

While we encourage all visitors joining us for Explore Salk to register in advance, walk-in visitors are absolutely welcome to join us on October 27th.

Do I need to reserve a seat for one of the talks in advance?

No. All seating for the free faculty talks are first-come, first-served.

Is there a charge to attend Explore Salk?

No, the day is a free, community open-house. The Salk Institute is a non-profit organization and we always welcome donations to support our ground-breaking science and award-winning education outreach programs. To make a donation please click here.

Are food and drinks available?

Yes, the Happy Bean coffee cart will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a variety of coffee, smoothies, and beverages available for purchase. The CulinArt Café at Salk Institute will also be serving a limited menu of lunch items available for purchase from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tables and chairs for enjoying your refreshments will be available.

Can we go in the labs during Explore Salk?

Unfortunately, there will be no lab tours offered this year.
