The plant scientists at the Salk Institute are developing novel ways to mitigate climate change by developing the next generation of plants that will not only draw down carbon but will provide new sources of protein for food and mechanisms of restoring disturbed environments. Model plants provide a reductionist framework to ask and test questions that ultimately provide the basic science needed to fully develop plants that will enhance our lives.
