Cuando se les retir\u00f3 el f\u00e1rmaco, los ratones recuperaron todo el peso perdido.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAl analizar cerca de 150 000 f\u00e1rmacos, los investigadores descubrieron que el amlexanox modificaba la forma en que los genes de los ratones controlaban su metabolismo. En lugar de actuar como un supresor del apetito, el f\u00e1rmaco aumentaba el metabolismo. El amlexanox parece inhibir dos genes en los ratones \u2014IKKE y TBK1\u2014 que, seg\u00fan hab\u00eda descubierto anteriormente el autor principal, Alan Saltiel, de la Universidad de M\u00edchigan, desempe\u00f1an un papel fundamental en el mantenimiento del equilibrio metab\u00f3lico. Sin embargo, primero debe demostrarse su seguridad y eficacia en ensayos cl\u00ednicos para la p\u00e9rdida de peso.
