Ein besseres Verst\u00e4ndnis der Maniokgenetik wird Forschern und Pflanzenz\u00fcchtern helfen, zuk\u00fcnftig produktivere, krankheits- und d\u00fcrreresistentere Pflanzen zu entwickeln.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMichaels Projekt wird, dank der Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation, zur Ern\u00e4hrungssicherheit beitragen, die Millionen von Menschen weltweit betrifft\u201d, sagt der Pr\u00e4sident des Salk Institute <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salk.edu\/de\/scientist\/rusty-gage\/\">Rusty Gage<\/a>. Diese Forschung wird Wissenschaftlern und Pflanzenz\u00fcchtern ein besseres Verst\u00e4ndnis der Maniokgenetik erm\u00f6glichen, damit sie die Ernteertr\u00e4ge verbessern und mehr Menschen ern\u00e4hren k\u00f6nnen, auch in einer ungewissen Zukunft.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Michael, ein Mitglied von Salks Abteilung f\u00fcr pflanzliche Molekular- und Zellbiologie, hat k\u00fcrzlich <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salk.edu\/de\/news-release\/study-shines-a-light-into-black-holes-in-the-arabidopsis-genome\/\">das Genom sequenziert<\/a> der Modellpflanzenarten\u00a0<em>Arabidopsis thaliana<\/em>\u00a0auf einem bisher unerreichten Detaillierungsgrad. F\u00fcr dieses neue Projekt wird er das Genom verschied<em>Manihot esculenta<\/em>) Abstammungslinien, die von Populationen aus S\u00fcdamerika und Afrika stammen. Sein Team, dem auch Wissenschaftler der Cornell University angeh\u00f6ren, wird dann Software entwickeln, um alle Maniok-Genome zusammen in einem sogenannten Pangenom zu visualisieren, das das Potenzial hat, die genomische Variation einer gesamten Art darzustellen. Das Pangenom wird dazu beitragen, Gene im Zusammenhang mit Krankheitsresistenz, Trockentoleranz und anderen g\u00fcnstigen Merkmalen hervorzuheben, auf die Pflanzenbiologen und Z\u00fcchter zugreifen k\u00f6nnen, um Maniokpflanzen zu verbessern.
