Mit Unterst\u00fctzung durch Initiativen wie die Chan Zuckerberg Initiative hoffen wir, dass wir endlich greifbare Fortschritte bei der Aufdeckung der Mechanismen dieser Krankheiten und potenzieller Angriffspunkte f\u00fcr Therapien erzielen k\u00f6nnen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen, darunter Alzheimer, Parkinson, Chorea Huntington und ALS, sind eine Klasse von Krankheiten, die Millionen von Menschen weltweit betreffen. Allein die Alzheimer-Krankheit ist die <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/media\/releases\/2018\/p0920-alzheimers-burden-double-2060.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">f\u00fcnftth\u00e4ufigste Todesursache f\u00fcr Amerikaner \u00fcber 65<\/a>, und die Zahl der Menschen mit Alzheimer und verwandten Demenzerkrankungen wird voraussichtlich bis 2060 von 5 Millionen auf 14 Millionen Menschen fast verdreifacht werden. In der Zwischenzeit sind die Ursachen der meisten neurodegenerativen Erkrankungen nur teilweise bekannt, und es gibt noch keine wirksamen Therapien, um die meisten dieser Erkrankungen zu heilen, zu verhindern oder auch nur zu behandeln.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrotz enormer Investitionen und Fortschritte im Verst\u00e4ndnis dieser Krankheiten gibt es \u00fcberraschend viele grundlegende Informationen \u00fcber ihre Biologie, die wir noch nicht kennen\u201d, sagt Katja Brose, CZI Science Program Officer. \u201cDurch die Unterst\u00fctzung dieser interdisziplin\u00e4ren Kooperationen und die Schaffung gemeinsamer Werkzeuge, Ressourcen und Plattformen hoffen wir, einen neuen Ansatz zur Bek\u00e4mpfung neurodegenerativer Erkrankungen zu inspirieren \u2013 einen, der die kombinierte Kraft von Grundlagenforschung und Technologie nutzt, um den Fortschritt in Richtung klinischer Ziele zu beschleunigen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Als einen Ansatz zum Verst\u00e4ndnis von Neurodegeneration taucht Allen tief in die Frage ein, wie Astrozyten neuronale Verbindungen beeinflussen, mit dem Ziel, neue Wege zur Reparatur gesch\u00e4digter Verbindungen zu entwickeln, um kognitive Funktionen und Ged\u00e4chtnis zu verbessern.
