Damon Runyon Fellow

Maya Capelson, a post-doctoral researcher in Martin Hetzer's lab, has been named a Damon Runyon Fellow. The prestigious, three-year award is intended to encourage the nation's most-promising, young investigators to pursue careers in cancer research by providing them with independent funding to work on innovative projects. Capelson will investigate the role of "gene gates," or nuclear pores, in tumor formation and cancer progression.
